Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course was recently listed in Golfweek magazine as one of the 2010 top courses you can play in the state of  Illinois. Shepherd’s Crook is ranked 8^th on that list. This is the second year in a row that Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course has been listed in the top echelon of golf courses in the country.

In 2009 Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course was listed as one of the top best municipal courses in the United States.  In its June 2009 issue, Golfweek magazine listed the top 50 municipal courses in the country.  Shepherd’s Crook is ranked 18^th on that list.

These rankings are based on the ratings of a team of evaluators on such standards as interest of greens and contours, best quality of conditioning, landscape and tree management, and overall land plan.

Shepherd’s Crook, a facility owned by the Zion Park District, opened in 1999 and has garnered several other awards and recognitions such as this; including “100 Best Fairways” by Golf for Women magazine and a 4 ½ star rating from Golf Digest magazines’ Best Places to Play.
